We are not a Hemel Hempstead agency and we are not going to pretend to be. We are about sixteen miles east of you, in Potters Bar. What we do have in Hemel Hempstead is a client in Leverstock Green whose energy brokerage we built a website for in 2023, and who came back for a second business afterwards.

Most of the work on a website happens wherever the person doing it happens to be sitting, and it would be silly to pretend otherwise. We rarely meet clients face to face these days. The early conversations, where most of the deciding gets done, happen on a video call, over Zoom or whatever platform you already use, and email and the phone carry the updates and the support after that. What being half an hour down the road actually buys you is that meeting in person stays easy on the occasions it is genuinely wanted, and we can be there the same week rather than at some point next month. That counted for most at the start here, when the question was what a half-built site still needed, and much less afterwards, when the answer was simply to go and build it.
Two businesses, two websites
Mindful Energy is an energy brokerage in Leverstock Green, helping businesses across the UK get better gas and electricity contracts and use less of both. Ian White had started building its website himself before he came to us in 2023, and what he needed went beyond what the platform he had begun on could do. We built the site and wired its quote requests and its mailing list into HubSpot, which is where the business is actually run from. He later commissioned a second site for Mindful Recruits, his recruitment company, built to run its vacancies from Zoho Recruit. Read the full story.
The honest part: this one was not about local search
On our Hertford page we make the point that search is the genuinely local part of a website. Hemel Hempstead is a useful counterexample. Mindful Energy sells to organisations all over the country, independent schools among them through an ISBA partnership, so being found by somebody typing a trade followed by a town was never the job here. What the site needed was to explain four services properly and put every enquiry into the system sitting behind them. If you are in Hemel Hempstead and your customers are too, local search matters enormously and we will say so plainly. If they are not, we would rather build for wherever they actually are.
